The inland areas of North Stradbroke feature a series of pristine freshwater lakes. Perhaps the best of these is the glistening Blue Lake in the midst of the Naree Budjong Djara National Park. The Blue Lake is largely untouched by climate change and appears to be in the same condition as it was some 7,500 years ago. The lakes offer a serene contrast to the coastal areas and the inland areas are home to some rare and endangered species of wildlife and vegetation. Other attractions worth visiting on the island include the North Stradbroke Island Historical Museum and the Coral Sea Art Gallery.
